I wanted to take a post to talk about style and the individual evolution we all incur at the many stages of our lives. Each day we are influenced by what we see, the people we meet, the places we go, the life we experience, and the life we dream of. We start out how our parents or guardians want us to dress, then rebel (or maybe not) against their will, then find ourselves slowly in between it all. Oh, the phases I have been through... you can probably guess them all and right you would be. If I have any advice to give on style, it would be to not be afraid to be inspired and explore. I constantly tear things out of magazines, take snapshots of strange things, buy random small cuts of fabric; anything that I feel drawn to. More than anything, I am truly inspired by many of my fellow fashion bloggers. I read every comment, I visit all your pages, and I love commenting back when time is on my side. Finding your own personal style is not a challenge it is a discovery of yourself through the world around you.

6.22.11 // Urban Nomad.

So many amazing sales going on right now. I think the only thing I paid full price for is my hat in this look. Super psyched on my new Ever Leather Jacket. I finally got to delete that off the sidebar list of needs. I have been coveting it for about six months and pulled the trigger yesterday. Get ready to be sick of me posting in it. Cool crop top is from the Opening Ceremony sale. The print is amazing as most things are from their line. Denim Shorts from the Levi's store; cant go wrong with short high waist denim. Shoes are from the Sigerson Morrison sale, half price and my favorite designers.

Necklace giveaway to commenting readers from one of the best stores downtown No. A! You can also visit their site and get discount with code 'Maven Post'!

Ring is Forever 21, Belt is American Apparel, Bag is Alexander Wang, and Sunglasses are Mosely Tribes :)

6.17.11 // Rodarte x OC.

Shirt, Rodarte x Opening Ceremony // Shorts, Urban Outfitters // Bag, Alexander Wang // Bird Ring, Thrifted // Necklace, LF

Had a wacky hair day for this look. A lot of people send me messages and asking if its real, how I process it, what I do for the look... Yes, it is my own hair, I don't know what goes in to the processing of it, and as for the look, well, it has a mind of its own and we don't always agree. In fact, we never really agree but I don't fight it any more.

The truth is, I know absolutely nothing about hair and beauty. I cant post any awesome makeup tips because I don't know any, and likewise for hair. As much as I long to know the secret art of beauty, I am a hippy at heart.

6.10.11 // The Night of Day.

Oh Em Gee... I died for this dress... Rag and Bone runway... I feel strangely empowered by it. I guess thats a good thing. :) So comfortable, so flowy, so neutral. Finally, womaned up got the Reed Krakoff bag Ive been lusting over for about a month. Its so functional for business use, I wish I had that type of need but I love it none the less. I highly recommend it for anyone in need of a purse with organizing elements. Got this amazing silk kimono from Shareen's personally designed collection. I somehow manage to make it work with everything and these photos somehow managed to look like they were shot at night when in fact they were shot in the light of day. Kinda shnazy!

6.9.11 // High Plains Drifter.

My love for native American culture and the south western look drew me in to this months Vogue editorial High Plains Drifter. Since childhood, my mother has been an avid collector of native American jewelry and it has since, spilled over to me. I usually do not buy things right out of magazines but this hat was insane. I was willing to drop some flow on it and much to my surprise, it was only $54 dollars from the brand Minnetonka that has been around since the mid 40's! Fell in love with these Pamela Love x Top Shop earrings which just so happened to coincide with my inspirational look. Loving it all...

6.7.11 // They Call Us Los Angelinos.

So the Barneys sale is in full swing and I cant say I hate it completely... I got this 3.1 Phillip Lim blue tunic drape dress for pennies. Ive been lusting after it for a while. Who am I kidding, I love sale completely. Have had these Chloe heels forever, they were the first thing I purchased when I got my first credit card... Kind of funny that they have lasted this long. Ive been having this ongoing obsession with downtown lately. In a two block radius alone, there are a billion different backdrops of lush concrete structures casting shadows of sun between them. I could wander around all day if time permitted. Sunglasses are Marc by Marc and bracelets are H&M.

6.5.11 // A Sweater Love Affair.

Another amazingly cool look from Tell Tale Hearts. All day I couldn't stop coveting this hairy vintage sweater out of the corner of my eye. Sunglasses and denim shorts both vintage as well.
Getting a lot of use out of my boots which I cant say about any of my other shoes. :)

Had a great work week. My highly anticipated online store should be launching by the end of the month which I am ecstatic about. I will keep you updated.

Im curious as to what people like about The Maven Post and what they would like to see more of. Please feel free to give any feedback, I would really appreciate it!

6.1.11 // Up in the Clouds, Down on the Ground.

Beautiful clouds in the sky... I don't see much of the sky these days, or at least I forget to stop and look up. I have been so busy these past few months but isn't that how life is when you start growing up.

My beloved Sigerson Morrison has been sold and are now closing their stores. Bought five pairs of shoes to numb the sadness. These wooden wedges are so cool, I cant think of them not making shoes anymore.

Got a quick pick me up outfit at Urban. Digging the light denim with the bold colors of the shoes. Bought this neat turquoise ring from Knotts Scary farm of all places... leave it to me to find something anywhere. Its an authentic Zuni tribe native American piece that I fell in love with. Belt is vintage, bag Proenza PS1.
