5.29.11 // Tell Tale Hearts X The Maven Post Giveaway.

People often think of the fashion world as a shallow, trivial industry full of vacant minds and general vapid sensibility. I wont lie and say that some of it isn't, but what is often overlooked are the people behind the glamor, behind the pitch, behind the curtain. Brilliant minds and some of the hardest working people I have ever met, are at the the core of it all and the ones who stay in the game.

Tuesday, I was able to meet up with the Melissa Patchett and Brandy Linstrum of Silverlake's hip vintage/contemporary boutique, Tell Tale Hearts. I fell in love with them immediately and for my skeptic and distant disposition, this was an extreme rarity. Not your average vintage store hunting through racks of "garbo" to find a gem, Melissa's history as a major fashion buyer shines in ever piece on the floor. Your biggest trouble will be editing your pile at the register or online cart. As much as I love clothes (which is A LOT), I'd have to say though, that the selection of jewelry and accessories is what stole the scene. Vintage Christian Dior sunglasses, Luv AJ jewelry that will melt your face of its so rad, I had to get out of there when we finished or I would have begun to have klepto thoughts...

5.26.11 // Vogue Girl Korea May 2011 Part I.

Behind the Scenes: Cristi Silva

Was asked to do an interview and looks for Vogue Girl Korea's May issue story on stripes. I have to admit, I was having a real struggle with the concept considering I don't wear a lot of stripes and their are so many variations and takes on the subject. I scrapped countless looks that I was displeased with but ultimately sent them everything so they could decide what worked best for their story. They chose 2 photos both of which were taken by my friends Visual Adhesive and Joe Nash. My friends at Rock and Revolution PR were so kind as to follow me in my striped endeavor and capture some amazing footage of the creative process. The dress is by ALC, earrings from Kitson, and sunglasses from some random thrift store. I will post the my other look from the feature next. After almost creative turmoil, the rule I learned was to just be yourself and the rest some naturally... And it did.

5.23.11 // Retro Chic.

My weekend away was pleasant but there is always something about coming home to your own space that makes you take that deep sigh of relief... I frequented my loving Malibu Country Mart while I was away, reminisced with friends, and indulged in some amazing shopping. I cant wait to share my finds!

Before I left, I stole my friend Mariel's DVF dress from the recent vintage collection. All the designs were exquisite but I couldn't help but fall in love with this particular red frock. Have had these leather Guiseppe Zanotti booties in storage for a while and thought they needed to take a walk. Finally got off the waiting list of back ordered Celine totes from Barneys New York. One of the hottest bags on the market right now and rightfully so. The structure and elegance makes for a dramatic yet sophisticated statement. Got my 70's on with my No. A headband I bought when I visited their downtown store.

Ready for some clear skies, nice weather, and lots of shooting for the week. Fun! :)

5.20.11 // Natural State.

Getting out of the city for the weekend with my little family. I truly can not wait to sink my toes into the cold morning beach sand. So much going on right now in life. My emotions are stale and dark so it's the perfect time for a retreat back to my home land.

It's never a bad idea to go back and find your center for some inner peace and a quiet mind ... :)

5.17.11 // A Dress Tale.

Wandering around Downtown Los Angeles with photographer Joe Nash. I've been dying to do a look in this amazing dress from my favorite vintage store, Shareen Vintage. I was immediately drawn in to it's 60's silhouette and pattern. The pastel tones felt so welcoming and reminiscent of times past. Bought this wonderful sun hat from J Crew per my friend Shane's adamant demands to buy as "it was a must have". I have no regrets. :) Sunglasses are an H & M cheap thrills as well as my Deena and Ozzy wedges. The sun was out and it was a beautiful day. I can only hope to stay clear of the inevitable sunburn and freckling that Summer has in store for me...

5.13.11 // Window Shopper.

My day off of work relegated me to the usual online shopping binge.
Fell in love with this VPL dress; it's everything I love from asymmetrics to dress up or down options.
My love of neutral tones is a life long commitment so when I found this Reed Krakoff bag, it was meant to be. I love the simplicity and classic elements it has but the updated and contemporary feel it portrays.
I am always excited for Proenza Schoulers' shoes, and season was no exception. They are brilliant designers and their shoes are always drool worthy.

5.10.11 // In Contrast.

Hard at work, per usual... Never a moment in the day where I feel free of everything. Very exciting projects coming up in the future that I can not wait to share. Found this rad Brandy Melville stripe top for super cheap at their store in Santa Monica along with the feather necklace. Feeling hugged and at home in my Helmut Lang jeans. Bag is Vanessa Bruno calfskin with fringe from Madison, Malibu. Curious as to what my readers are liking about my blog and if there are any special requests for looks or anything. In the mood to indulge some curiosity. Hope everyone is healthy and happy. :)

5.8.11 // In Bloom.

The last few days have been exhausting mentally, physically, and emotionally. Im at a road fork in my life and only I can make the decisions that are ahead of me. I finally get a day off tomorrow and I am looking forward to doing absolutely nothing (which is probably not a true statement because I can never just do nothing). Got this super awesome 3.1 Phillip Lim sweater/tank at Barneys; its so light and perfect for this strange Spring weather. Ive had these cute shorts by Nightcap for a long time and just rediscovered them recently! I love finding things in my closet that I haven't seen in a while. Necklace is H&M, bracelet is Miracle Icons, ring is Forever 21. The bag is my Givenchy nightingale (my second child after Sir Helmut, the currently fluffy white ball that of which is my dog).

5.7.11 // Blue Cinematic Deco.

Parting with Les Fragments to move on to The Maven Post was a really hard decision for me to make. The blog still sits intact, but is not available for view by the public. There are many elements and a lot of content that I miss people not being able to have access to. Knowing this, every so often, I am going to start taking the best of Les Fragments and re-posting them on this site so they can be live again.

This particular shoot was done at the Chamberlain Hotel in West Hollywood. Wearing a Helmut Lang leather/jersey drape dress, some nylons, and Aldo platforms.

5.2.11 // Down Town Girl.

Took a trip to downtown LA this week for some meetings etc. Andy and I found this really cool building with old railroad tracks that had been strangely built around but not dismantled for its obvious unusable state. The magic of downtown is in full sight. Once a metropolitan capital in the 1920's, it housed department store flagships, bangin' night clubs, theaters, hotels, and all the culture of city life we now lack. With the redevelopment and renovation of this historically rich area, I am eager to see the endless possibilities of what it can become once again.
